The Boys are Back in Town!

By Alberto Pupo

Congress is back in session, after a time of idling (which they love). So now they are back and more Conservative than ever with the Senate under Republican control. With snow falling over the Capitol, in a rare appearance the new Congress swears to stand for injustice, the rich, and all that is wrong in America. Now they stand ready to govern, ready to make sure that America languishes for at least the next two years.

The legislative proposals came fast and furious. Another not so veiled attack at “Obamacare”, another push for the Keystone environmental destruction plan, and finally that old time classic from the New deal era, attack Social Security at all cost. Brand new2015-01-06-NBC-NN-NewCongress1_0 Congress same old shit. Outrageous attempts to destroy the poor and middle class. Further attempts to strengthen the rule of corporations and the ever illustrious 1%. Once again Congress will ignore its constituents and strictly stick to old standbys and finding new ways to make America a hellhole.

With the same old dance one must wonder why these cretins even run for public office. Clearly, public service is nothing but an empty Continue reading

Welcome 2015…

By Alberto Pupo

2015 is here what lies in store in our political world? Very soon Republicans will control both chambers of congress. Very soon reactionary forces will hold our legislative fates in their hands. The year is 2015, but the mentality of those who govern is very much yearning for 1815. Conservatism, what exactly is it that they want to conserve? Is it hatred of all minorities and women? Is it hatred for the poor and middle class? The future 2015is here and what does 2015 have in store for America?

Gridlock, obfuscation, sound and fury signifying nothing. If the previous Congress was a legislative stalemate, the new one will feature a complete legislative stalemate. Prepare for a year of insane bills to be proposed most likely featuring some sort of social cultural oppression, or Corporate economic subsidy. Prepare for a Congress who Continue reading

Too little too late…

By Alberto Pupo

Congress vacationed, idled, and was constantly mired in gridlock for what has been nearly three years. They have barely passed any legislation, and passing a single budget was something akin to the tragedy of Sisyphus. Yet the last week something strange has happened, where once there was idleness and deadlock, now was a sudden surge in productivity. Suddenly out of the ashes arises an omnibus of legislation, the result of pent 140805142519-congress-one-word-word-cloud-story-topup legislative goodness bursting forth… Yet somehow we the people can help but find this to be terribly wrong? contrived? A genuine cluster fuck indeed. Congress has gone from legislative apathy to a new found artificial productivity which will ultimately do more harm than good.

With topics as diverse as marijuana, to fattening lunches, deregulation of Wall St. et al.. The new monstrous bill is trying to make up for years of lost time. Yet this massive bill is simply throwing out many damaging pieces Continue reading

Thank You Congress!

By Alberto Pupo

Dear Congress,

Thank you for gracing us with your presence. We the people feel honored that you have served us well and delved into a very difficult two week period of attempting the process of legislating us into a brighter future. We are grateful to have have diligent public servants who are in no way obstruction will in the process of governance. Because you work so us-congresshard in governing it is understandable that today you have ended your session and will now embark in an arduous 6 week break in order to “campaign” for the opportunity to retain your job after the election.

The work you accomplished these past two weeks has been amazing In fact it has been so amazing that it seems that after an almost 8 week summer vacation our legislative body had not missed a beat During this two week period rather than dealing with issues of inequality, environment, or Continue reading

The Supreme Court vs. Congress: Who has Damaged America More?

By Alberto Pupo

Who is the most corrupt? Which branch of government has done the most damage? Yes while the Executive Branch from 2001-2008 was a source of devastation the last 8 years have not necessarily featured the same outright fascist imperialism (despite what some may think). Instead the last 8 years has featured a battle royale between the other two scalesbranches of Government Congress and the Supreme Court. Each of these branches in the last 8 years has brought forth their own little bit of disaster and has negatively impacted American society. So let us take a closer look at who has fucked the people the most!

Congress- Yes ladies and gentleman, these are the people elected to craft our laws! Since the United States is a Nation that is so hellbent on the “rule of law”, the role of Congress is vital to keeping our Country moving forward. Poorly crafted legislation can Continue reading

Attacking Syria is a Tragic Error!

By Alberto Pupo

As America prepare for Iraq the sequel.. er Syria. We the people have to sit back look at this travesty and watch history coming dangerously close to repeating itself. Once again ten years after the initial disaster , a decade yet apparently we as a Nation do not learn our lesson. Going into Syria is a tragic mistake, the bottom line is that nothing productive will come from involving our Nation in another war for a variety of reasons. Yes the first and most important reason is that war in itself is an aberration of human nature and does no good to any of the parties involved. Ideologically driven Pacifism aside there are a host of other reasons why America must stay out of Syria.

This is a Civil War- Yes as sad, tragic, destructive, etc as the conflict may be it is a Civil War that has been going on for years now. The dispute is between different parties with a competing vision of governance for their own country. America cannot get involved in an internal dispute. Not only is it not prudent due to a lack of understanding of the culture and internal politics of the Syrian Nation, but also because as an outsider looking in, an outside Country should not ever dictate policy and governance to any Nation,

An attack will only Kill more Innocents- Whether we want to acknowledge it or not missiles are destructive weapons. When these weapons are fired down from the Continue reading

Direct to the Point: The End of Representative Democracy?

By Alberto Pupo

Debt Ceiling, Fiscal Cliff, Sequester…. Congress has stopped representing our interests a long time ago. They only seem interested in lining their own pockets and accepting Corporate Cash. They have a tendency of being alcoholics, drug users, braggarts, liars and cheaters. We the people pay their salary and they constantly do everything in their power to screw us over. Ladies and Gentleman Congress is useless! Representative Democracy came up in a time were it was not feasible in such a large Nation to have people directly voice their opinions. Technology has changed all this, the Digital Commons is a cheaper and more effective way to get our voice out than to rely and give our votes to people who don’t care to carry out their Constitutional duties. I think Continue reading

The Greatest Achievement?

By Alberto Pupo

The answer to the deficit has arrived. After all the bitter squabbling of the last three  years, Congress in its infinite wisdom has found a solution. In what is hailed as a “bipartisan victory” and is supposedly  strongly and hotly demanded. The United States Post Office has gotten rid of Saturday delivery. In doing this Billions of Dollars will be saved! More money will be put into valuable government functions like Corporate welfare and more drones and bombs!

The Post Office wants to do this proposals and Republicans want to oblige them and change the law Continue reading
