The circus is coming in 2016. The mad dash to hop into the Post-Obama world is already turning into a mad scramble (especially in the Republican circles). Already thousands of inane conservative candidates, and Koch buddies are leaping and running at the chance. Meanwhile even Mitt threatened another run but was short lived as the realization that he will not be able to successfully portray himself as “mother Teresa”. Yet even without Romney 2016 is shaping itself to be a fantastic clown like atmosphere.
Palin is back! (and no not the one of Monty Python acclaim) the Empress of Wasilla is flirting with a run to add to the list of the mentally unstable who are running. Right now this mad menagerie is struggling to find money, (most of them will be bowing to the Kochs soon enough).Yet one thing is abundantly clear this new crop of rabblerousers is heavy on the flash and soundbite, but lacking in the substantive. Instead of policy ideas, and methods of perhaps moving America forward, we are simply getting vapid statements which are yielding nothing. In this field of forward, looking brilliant philosophers not a single valid policy idea has been presented. Instead we simply get the same refrain of moving into the “Post-Obama world” yet there is not a single candidate that has quite articulated any sort of vision. Most idea revolve about undoing what has already been done. A Republican led country in 2016 will be most likely engage in ways of attempting to destroy healthcare reform at all costs, they will most likely also plunge into a nice never ending War against ISIS and justify with some sort of pseudo patriotic drivel, as civil liberties get torched ala Bush’s America.
Yet while the clown circus in 2016 is quite disturbing, the fact that there is any solid opposition to the clown car itself is quite disturbing. While there tons of Republicans throwing themselves into the ring there very few opposition candidates It almost seems that outside of the impending Hillary Clinton machine there is very little or legitimate opposition. Yes Bernie Sanders has expressed interest but there are not a large amount of candidates who are trying to oppose them, this in itself is depressing as 2016 is truly up for grabs and it is a golden opportunity for reform minded progressive candidate to truly attempt to make a difference so this is something that needs to be addressed in order to bring a little sanity on what is shaping up to be a circus.
